Party wall act

The Party Wall Act provides a framework for preventing and resolving disputes in relation to party walls, boundary walls and excavations.

The Part Wall Act may be applicable if you are intending to carry out building work which involves one of the following categories:

• Work on an existing wall or structure shared with another property
• Building a wall up to or astride of the boundary with a neighbouring property
• Excavating near a neighbouring building

• Acting for building owner (carrying out the work)
• Acting for adjoining owner (affected by the work)
